MRT Collision on 15 November 2017

Many Singaporeans were affected on the morning of 15 November 2017 while they were on their way to work, school or other activities.   This is one of the most severe accident that had happened since 1993, where another collision happened.

What Happened?

A collision occurred between a stationary train at Joo Koon station with a passenger train on November 15 about 08:20 am where many people are on their way to work.  Apparently due to a train fault, the SMRT put up all the information inside their Social Media networks with not much details on the exact accident.  It was only 08:33 am later on, that SCDF revealed about the injured , initially about 23 people.  They were sent to the NG TENG FONG HOSPITAL and also National University Hospital for the treatment.

In a joint statement later on around 11am, both SCDF and LTA jointly made a statement informing the public of the accident, the mobile train had unexpectedly collided to the stationary train.

How Severe?

Among those who were sent to the hospital, 2 of the injured people had P2 type of injury, which is considered a little more severe than the rest.  Injuries under this category include limb fractures, joint dislocation and severe back pain.  So far the rest sustained injury of a less severe nature.

SMRT, LTA and also Ministry of Transport have suffered great blow from this incident.  Many angry people commented in their social medias and also sent feedback to their websites.  SMRT will continue to investigate and rectify this situation.
