Free Parking In Singapore

Owning and maintaining a car in Singapore is expensive, what’s more to fund its petrol and parking.  Motorists are always on the look out for free parking places so that they can save a bit on this portion.  There are actually quite a number of places in Singapore with free parking, sharing with you some of my findings!

    1. MUSTAFA CENTER SINGAPORE

The Mustafa Center

The Mustafa center is a famous shopping place for tourists and Singaporeans with 1st hour parking free and $2 for the subsequent hour or part thereof.  It is located in Little India and near to the Farrer Park MRT station too.  With this free hour, you can do a quick shopping or just have a meal nearby since some of the good Indian food joints are here.

MON-FRI , Sat, Sun and PH

1st hr free, $1.00 for next subsequent 30min from 7am to 7am the following day

2. IKEA TAMPINES

Ikea Tampines is a mega structure that attracts a lot of furniture and home ware shoppers.  This place gets really crowded on the weekends.  With multi levels of carpark space, their free parking is something to be happy about.

You will be glad to know that they do provide some shuttle service:Shuttle Bus Schedule if you do not feel like driving, this will be a good choice.

3.Parks In Singapore

Parks in Sg

There are actually a number of parks in Singapore that provides free parking, although most of the Nparks now have gantries for parking, there are some which still offer free parking, here are some of them:

  • Mt Faber
  • West Coast Car Park 2 and 3
  • Carpark B, C , D , F, G and H
  • Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve: 7am-7pm
  • Labrador Park : Carpark A, B
  • Chinese Garden : Free for 1 hour before 6pm
4. Gillman Barracks and Dempsey Hill

Dempsey

Gillman area

I am lumping these two place together because they used to be the colonial days barracks and still retain the old architectures.  These two places are also where many new eateries pop up, cafes , hip pubs and stuff.  The good thing about these places are that they are relatively inaccessible and not crowded especially on weekdays.  Dempsey Hill is free parking throughout the area with no gantries ( not sure about the future) but for Gillman Barracks: First hour free from Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm, then $0.50 for next 30 minutes and $3/hour from third hour onwards. Free parking on Saturdays from 11pm to 7pm, then $2 per entry. Free parking all day on Sundays.

5. IMM

Jurong East is the nearest MRT to IMM building

When you are heading to Jurong East, this is the best place to park, although it can get kinda crowded on the peak hours on weekdays and weekends, the good parking price is just too hard to resist.  Free 2-hour parking daily for first entry only, then $1.07 for third hour and $0.30 per subsequent 15 minutes, you can even have a meal around the area before heading off and not pay any parking fees.  With Westgate, J cube and JEM nearby, there is more reasons to park in IMM.

6.  The Grand Stand ( Ex Turf Club)
The Grand Stand

This place is becoming very hip and upcoming, with many eateries, restaurants and also the hypermart, GIANT.  With more and more children enrichment and extra curricular schools ( Arts and Crafts, Music and Gymnastics) schools being set up here, this place has become a major hangout for families during the weekend.  But the good part is that the parking in the grand stand is for free!  There are sheltered and covered parkings , enough for one and all.  If you are lazy to drive, there is also shuttle buses available : Shuttle Bus Schedule.  The shuttle bus is from many different locations which makes it conveniently accessible for all.

7. Alexandra Retail Centre ( ARC)

Credits: RC Tech

It is not a wholesale market but actually more like a mall at the NOL and PSA building area along Alexandra Road.  The place can also be reached by Circle Line MRT, Labrador Park.  From Mon-Fri, it is free parking from 6:30pm- 11:00pm and for the weekends, 7:00am to 11:00pm its free parking.  There are a number of Factory outlets for brands like New Balance here.  It is also near to Vivio City, so if you like to avoid the crowd parking over there, you can consider parking here and taking the MRT down.

That is so far for our list, do share with us any of the good “lobangs” for free parking.  We will be glad to share them here too!
