Basic Theory Test

So finally I am back to taking the basic theory again.  So What is it like going through the whole Basic theory.  I must say being so worried, I actually booked 2 more practice sessions before going into the test centre.

Test slip to tell you the terminal to report to

Since the BTT evaluation was passed more than a month, if I fail this BTT real test will mean waiting another long few weeks before I can book again firstly due to the time needed to having pass the evaluation all over again and secondly to wait for the test date, which is selling like hot cakes.  And this time Traffic Police got “smarter”, during my time, you can take book the test at different locations, if you fail at one place you can always take it at another.  That is how convenient and fast things can be.  But now since all systems are computerised, this is not possible anymore, you are allowed to only book your test in one centre and take your test in that centre.  If you fail, you will need to retake your evaluation ( if you are with the school) or rebook only after you have taken one test before.

The BTT now is no longer the OA sheets where by you circle the answer on the numbering sheets.

The tests these days are conducted with touch screen test sheets.  Once you are inside the test centre, you will be identified with a test sheet.  From there, you will be given a respective station.  Go to the station, sit down and log on to the terminal when the tester gives the green light.  The test consist of 50 questions, but the passing is minimum 90% correct answers.

You will be given 1 hour to complete the test, to me it is more than ample time to complete, I was even able to check my answers over twice before submitting.  Results will automatically show after you submit the answers.  That moment was really quite scary!

TIPS

Now that I have luckily passed the test, I realised the BTT is actually for life! But I guess because my case was special so I probably have to retake it anyway.  Main thing is if you are with a school, do keep practicing the test booklets.  The practice is cheaper and also all the questions are same or similar to the real test.  Do make a point to remember the questions , jot it down in your note book and revise them.

Good Luck!
